Northforged Labs New Brunswick, Canada

An AI research lab that forges custom software.

We study how AI agents build software, then put that practice to work on yours. Agents do the heavy lifting. Two humans keep the vetoes.

01What we do

Two labs under one roof. Research that ships.

Half of the lab explores what AI agents can do. The other half takes on contracts and builds real software with them. Each side keeps the other honest.

Contracts

Custom software, built with agents in the loop

Web apps, internal tools, and platforms built to your spec. AI agents draft, test, and refactor. We review every change, and nothing ships without a human saying yes.

Research

Applied AI research and prototyping

We test how agents and models behave on real engineering work, and turn the promising ideas into prototypes you can click.

Automation

AI agents and automation for your workflows

The process that lives in texts, inboxes, and a spreadsheet that became the company. We turn it into software and agents your team can actually share.

Modernization

Legacy systems, made visible

Old or home-grown systems only one person understands. We map them, then move them forward. It is the idea behind CobolGraph, our tool for COBOL.

Products

Products we run ourselves

We ship and operate our own apps, so the methods we sell are tested on our own work first. See the projects.

Straight talk

An honest first answer

Describe the messy process. If software is not the right fix, we will tell you before you spend anything.

02How the lab works

Agents do the drafting. Humans hold the veto.

We are heavy AI users. Agents write, test, and revise around the clock. Two humans stay on staff for strategy, engineering, and vetoes.

  1. 01

    Idea

You bring the problem. We pin down what done looks like, together.

  2. 02

    Agents draft

AI agents write the code, the tests, and the docs, then revise them fast.

  3. 03

    Humans veto

A person reviews every change. Anything that would confuse you goes back to the agents.

  4. 04

    Ship

Approved work goes live, and we keep watching how it behaves.

lab.loop live

An example run: an idea is scoped, agents draft code and tests, a human reviews and either vetoes or approves, and approved work ships.

  • Agents in the loop

AI is part of how every project gets built, not a feature bolted on at the end. That is what lets a small lab move quickly.

  • Humans hold the veto

Agents propose. People decide. Strategy, engineering judgment, and the final yes or no stay with the two humans who run the lab.

  • Research feeds the work

What we learn in the research lab changes how we build for clients, and client work tells us what to research next.

03Meet the lab

Two agents on file. Both human.

The lab is run by two people who go by their codenames. They set the direction, review the work, and answer your email.

04Our projects

Things we have built and still run.

Live apps from the lab. Each one opens in a new tab. They are also how we test our own methods.

05Work with us

Bring us the messy problem.

Tell us about a project, a research question, or a process that should be software. A human reads every message and answers.
